Host / Hostess

The host / hostess is the first individual guests see upon entering the restaurant. It is the host / hostess responsibility to welcome and genuinely thank arriving and departing guests in a friendly manner. Guests receive their first impression (the lasting impression) of the service that they expect will be provided the remainder of their dining experience. The host / hostess is a personal representation of the overall hospitality of Food Wine & Co. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Monitoring the availability of dining space within the restaurant 
  • Estimating wait times for guests
  • Having tables prepared for guests with reservations 
  • Monitor waiting guests and ensure their needs are met
  • Answering the telephone 
  • Booking reservations
  • Relaying messages and properly communicating with floor manager and wait staff

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Needed: 

  • Ability to take and follow instructions in both verbal and written form 
  • Ability to make decisions while remaining in accordance to Food Wine & Company's business practices 
  • Proficient with open table reservation system 
  • Ability to work in a face paced, upbeat and lively environment 
Availability and Experience: 
  • Open weekday and weekend availability 
  • Prior restaurant experience
